About this role
Elkanna is hiring Community Health Education Practitioners to deliver our early intervention programmes across Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan, and Louth.
This role suits people who can combine warmth, creativity, and structured learning to teach children and families about nutrition, activity, and emotional well-being.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver play-based health education workshops to children aged 5–12 in schools, community halls, and family settings.
- Run six- to eight-week family healthy lifestyle programmes for parents and children together.
- Build trusting relationships with families, teachers, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate session records, attendance, and outcome data for HSE reporting.
- Apply Children First safeguarding practice in every interaction with children and families.
What we're looking for
- Relevant qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, Education, Nursing, Dietetics, Sports Science, Social Care, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with children, families, schools, or community groups.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel across the six border counties.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland and complete Garda vetting and Children First training.
Desirable experience
- Experience delivering health promotion, family programmes, or HSE-funded initiatives.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Working knowledge of childhood obesity prevention and family well-being frameworks.
